School Day Custodian & After School Care Assistant
Purpose: The School Custodian is responsible for maintaining an attractive, sanitary, safe facility for students, staff, and the public; performing minor maintenance; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities, and events; minimizing property damage, loss, and liability exposure to the school district; and other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Supervisor: This position reports to the Principal.
Essential Functions:
· Cleans assigned school facilities (e.g., classrooms, offices, gyms, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, grounds etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe, attractive environment, including, but not limited to:
o Cleaning offices, meeting chambers and recreational facilities
o Securing storage areas
o Washing and disinfecting all washroom floors, toilets, toilet seats, hand dryers and fixtures
o Maintaining cleanliness of restrooms throughout the school day
o Cleaning and sanitizing cafeteria tables and floors between lunch rotations
o Cleaning and sanitizing areas affected by bodily fluids
o Cleaning all mirrors
o Replenishing toilet tissue, soap, and other supplies as needed
o Emptying all waste baskets and garbage cans
o Placing garbage in outside storage bin
o Cleaning entrance and exit including glass, doors and hardware
o Keeping outside area clear of leaves, cans, paper, etc.
o Cleaning, washing and disinfecting drinking fountains
o Performing minor maintenance repairs
o Cleaning kitchen sinks, microwaves, counters and floors
o Washing and buffing floors with floor polisher as scheduled
o Spot cleaning walls and toilet partitions as needed
o Other duties as assigned
· Attends in-service training (e.g., instruction on blood-borne pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care, first aid, etc.) for the purpose of receiving information on new and/or improved procedures.
· Delivers various items (e.g., supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc.) for the purpose of distributing materials to the appropriate parties.
Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment used in the performance of duties.
Wears appropriate safety gear, including masks.
Must comply with school district's chemical hygiene program and follow MSDS sheets.
After School Care Assistant
Summary:
Holy Rosary Catholic School in Rosenberg, Texas, seeks responsible, energetic and nurturing individuals who love children to work as assistants in our before and after school program.
The position requires supervising children during play, rest, and homework, planning and implementing daily activities, preparing and serving snacks, and providing academic assistance to school students in grades PK through 8th grade.
Category: Part-time hourly basis
Work Year: school days August - May with some additional training days
Job Hours: M-F 3:00 - 6:00 PM
Education/Experience:
The successful candidate is expected to:
- High school diploma, minimum. Experience with school children preferred.
- Be mature, responsible, energetic and nurturing with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Commensurate experience in child care/education will be considered.
- Receive a criminal background check clearance.
- Be trained and verified in the child abuse awareness program, Safe Haven, offered by Catholic Mutual at https://galvestonhouston.cmgconnect.org/.
- Be committed to the philosophy of Catholic school and value oriented education.
- Special talents in physical education, art, music, or education are a plus.
