Utah Virtual Academy is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Para Professional to work in an innovative environment. Utah Virtual Academy teachers and paraprofessionals work from a home-based office to work with students all over the state of Utah using our virtual curriculum. Paraprofessionals will run curriculum-based measurements, track student data, and will work live with students in an online classroom to support our special education teachers. Virtual educators are part of a national pioneering effort in public education. Our Para Professional should therefore share the school's entrepreneurial spirit and passion to provide students with a world class educational program that blends virtual with face to face instruction.
Working in a virtual charter school requires a strong educational background and a firm commitment to our innovative model. This will ensure that all our teachers and Para Professionals can provide constant support and face-to-face meetings if necessary to our families. As part of their regular responsibilities, Para Professionals are expected to fulfill duties in the following areas: Instruction and Student Achievement
• Demonstrate knowledge of state standards and testing requirements • Assess student academic progress, performance and attendance using curriculum-based assessments • Provide teachers and parents with regular feedback regarding student performance and progress • Help prepare students for standardized tests • Virtual Instructional Environment • Create and manage home office • Establish relationships with families
Professional Responsibilities • Build community by contributing to school message boards, newsletter and events • Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions
