Job Description The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider a challenging and gratifying employment opportunity with our agency. We are seeking a dynamic and visionary individual to join our team as a Math Teacher for the Blind/Low Vision located in Ogden.
The Special Education Math Teacher will provide specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs in the subject of mathematics at the secondary level. The teacher will collaborate with general education math teachers, support staff, and parents to create individualized education plans (IEPs) and implement strategies to support students with disabilities in achieving academic success in mathematics. The teacher will also provide consultation for the elementary teachers for mathematics instruction at the elementary level.
Principal Duties: As a Teacher you will: -Develop and implement individualized education plan goals related to math for students with disabilities in collaboration with the IEP team. -Provide direct instruction in mathematics to students with diverse learning needs, adapting teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities. -Use a variety of instructional strategies and resources to differentiate math instruction and support student engagement and learning. -Collaborate with general education math teachers to modify and adapt curriculum materials to meet the needs of students with disabilities. -Monitor and assess student progress in mathematics, and provide ongoing feedback to students, parents, and the IEP team. -Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, including IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications as they relate to math instruction. -Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders to support student learning and well-being. -Consult with elementary teachers with instructional strategies, model instruction, create manipulatives for elementary students. -Performs other duties as assigned
