Description

Summary/Objective

Develops, plans, and implements appropriate therapeutic programs for identified students in the school district.

Essential Functions

Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for all students eligible for physical therapy services. Develop, implement, and coordinate a physical therapy program, including philosophy, vision, departmental procedures and goals. Provide direct service to students as indicated on specific IEPs. Provide homebound service, as needed. Evaluate students, interpret assessment findings, and appropriately convey information to parents and school teams. Consult with school staff, parents, and agencies regarding student needs, progress, and instructional modifications. Validate outside diagnostic evaluations and program recommendations. Recommend and assist with procurement of therapeutic equipment and materials based on student needs, as needed. Maintain student services, administrative, and other department records in accordance with the Arizona Physical Therapy Practice Act as well as school district, state, and federal policies. Communicate and consult with school staff, parents, administrators, physicians, community, and other professionals effectively verbally and in written form. Participate in professional growth activities. Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members, and vendors. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.

Supervisory Responsibility

May supervise assistants while working with students.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Regularly required to be mobile. Regularly required to sit and focus on a computer screen for extended periods of time. Regularly required to see, talk and hear. Manual dexterity regularly required in the preparation of reports and other documents. Regularly required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full time, exempt position, contracted for 166 days between July 1 and June 30. Employee will typically work Monday through Thursday.
