This is a full-time or part-time position depending on the candidate.
IRCHS is a non-traditional, locally-governed charter high school with a mission to develop character, citizenship, cultural awareness, and academic excellence. We offer a comprehensive Visual and Performing Arts program in which over 50% of the student body participates; honors, dual-enrollment, and advanced placement coursework; high expectations for student behavior; and a unique, innovative thematic curriculum.
Currently, IRCHS is rated an “A” school by Florida’s School Rating System and has been the highest-rated high school in Indian River County for the past 18 years. Students accept a great deal of responsibility within the school environment, from the open campus to Homebase expectations, and participation in community projects such as; cultural events, government meetings, and volunteer activities. Each student is expected to follow a 7-point behavior contract in order to remain a student. IRCHS participates in random drug testing for all students, staff, and board members.
Any applicant should hold at least a bachelor’s degree, maintain the ability to present a rigorous course of study, and offer a creative, student-centered instructional style.
Job Requirements: -Maintain a positive, organized and safe learning environment. -Use effective student behavior management techniques. -Establish and maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures, including but not limited to, required individual student plans and reports. -Use technology resources effectively. -Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and plans for improvement. -Communicate high learning expectations for all students. -Apply principles of learning and effective teaching in instructional delivery. -Use appropriate materials, technology, and other resources to help meet the learning needs of all students. -Provide instruction on safety procedures and proper handling of materials and equipment. -Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with other professionals, students, parents and community. -Provide accurate and timely information to parents and students about academic and behavioral performance of students. -Engage in a continuous improvement process regarding professional skills and knowledge. -Establish and implement an individual Professional Development plan annually in accordance with state and district requirements. Professional Responsibilities -Act in a professional and ethical manner and adhere at all times to The Code of Ethics and Principles of Professional Conduct of the Education Profession in Florida. -Demonstrate attention to punctuality and regular attendance. -Prepare all required reports in an accurate and timely manner and maintain all appropriate records. -Maintain confidentiality of student and other professional information. -Support school improvement initiatives. -Ensure that student growth/performance is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area and/or student program classification. Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
