Job Summary
Assist the Library Media Educational Technology Specialist in media center operations, technology troubleshooting, book fairs, equipment repairs and maintenance. Helps maintain the continuity of operation when the LMETS is absent and assists with other assignments as determined by the LMETS. Attendance, physical presence, and timeliness are required and are essential functions of this position.
Essential Functions
- Support teachers in their use of district programs.
- Attend district trainings
- Monitors students in the library, including their computer and Internet usage.
- Assists with displays, promotion of literature, and reading advisory.
- Assigns work to student assistants.
- Reads a variety of young adult literature to assist with recommending books to students and collection development.
- Helps maintain a current library collection. Assists with a yearly inventory of library collection.
- Gives students guidance in their research.
- Other duties as assigned*
Required Education and Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Some college preferred
Experience working with Destiny, the media circulation software
Required Prior Experience
Some library experience preferred
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Proficient in using the database functions of Excel.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Pro version of Word and PowerPoint 2010.
- Knowledge of a variety of mobile devices and device management.
- Knowledge of the Sora application and assist faculty and students in downloading materials.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware and software problems.
- Assists with displays, promotion of literature, and reading advisory.
- Knowledge of Publisher or Adobe Creative Suite for creating promotional materials in the library.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with students and teachers.
- Self-motivated and able to take directions from supervisors.
- Ability to learn new skills and functions.
Positive interaction of students, teachers, support personnel, parents, parents, and administrators.

Working Environment
Work setting is mainly in the media center.
Physical Requirements – Not limited to the following:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak and/or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, and crouch. Occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel and must occasionally climb or balance.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
