Description

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: - a team-player with self-initiative who is reliable, organized yet flexible, and compassionate - Entry-level positions available - Priority given toward candidates with Experience for - working with people with Autism - data collection, especially IBP data and Behavior or DTT data - behavior or crisis management (e.g., Safety Care)

Every IA will be trained in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA). IAs who meet performance expectations will receive FREE training required to become certified as a Registered Behavior Therapist (RBT). IAs who exceed performance expectations after acquiring their RBT Certification can be considered for promotion to Classroom RBT / Instructional Assistant.

IA Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Classroom Management

Assisting the teacher(s) with maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.

Assisting during transitions that require :student movement around school campus.

Assisting students with self-care needs (toileting, lifting, positioning, feeding, etc.).

Implementing ABA strategies and positive behavior support/intervention plans

Assisting the teacher(s) with taking necessary and reasonable precautions (to protect students, materials, equipment, and facilities.

Academic Support (as directed by and under the supervision of the Teacher)

Communicating accurate knowledge of subject matter using language and style appropriate to the learner

Providing academic support for individual and/or groups of students

Assisting students during meals, recess, and Specials (Music, Art, and PE) as needed

Communication

Assisting the teacher(s) with evaluating student progress on a regular basis and providing feedback to parents and families.

Establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with other employees (supervising Teacher, classroom team, and other staff members).

Professionalism

Following all policies and protocols of school and classroom.

Adjusting daily routines and sometimes staffing assignments based on the needs of the classroom and school.

Continuing professional growth through educational trainings, meetings, and professional development.

And above all...

Exercising empathy, patience, and perseverance in the effort to provide an appropriate educational plan to all students with Autism.
