Description

•Meet and instruct 7th and 8th grade students Meet Utah core standards •Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students •Become educated in the IB program and prepare lesson plans that are in accordance with the IB methodology •Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students •Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation to administration •Create the structure for students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior •Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and – in alignment with the goals – establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and assessments and clearly communicates these objectives to students •Employ a variety of instructional strategies and technology •Implement by instruction and action, Channing Hall’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives •Assess student learning on a regular basis and provide immediate feedback and progress reports •Work with the Special Education Team to diagnose the learning disabilities of students •Take all necessary and reasonable precautions for the safety of students, equipment, materials and facilities. •Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, board policy and administrative regulation •Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner •Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms •Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) and cooperatively, with administration, evaluate their job performance •Maintain and improve professional competence •Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required
