Interventionist (RTI)

Summary
Perform all duties and responsibilities of Interventionist (RTI):  to work with building administration and teaching staff in implementing, utilizing, making educationally appropriate decisions regarding student instruction. 

Qualification
Must be Highly Qualified. 
-A minimum of five (5) years of successful full-time public school experience is required.
-A minimum of five (5) years of experience with implementing and organizing the RTI model is required.
-Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school colleagues, school administrators, parents, and students.

Position Purpose
The Interventionist (RTI) assists school leadership teams in the administration and implementation of the RTI model and the monitoring of appropriate data resources to help build capacity for learning among students who exhibit academic struggles.  Provides leadership and support for administrators and instructional staff in assuring that appropriate intervention programming is occurring in all schools; guides leadership teams in the process of using relevant data to arrive at informed choices in making and adjusting instructional decisions and practices for at-risk learners.

Essential Job Functions
1. Possess a clear knowledge of the application of RTI model at the Elementary and Secondary level.
2. Identify clear processes for universal screening, which will be used to identify students who need additional support.
3. Establish a progress monitoring process and data collection procedures, including entrance and exit criteria.
4. Facilitate timely Data Review Meetings (I-teams) at each school in the district.
5. Assist sites in analyzing student needs and linking student needs to appropriate interventions for struggling students.
6. Ability to conduct/organize professional development in all aspects related to tiered intervention including philosophy, problem-solving methodology, system change, universal screening, progress monitoring, decision making, intervention methods at all tiers for both academic and behavioral needs.
7. Oversee the creation, organization and maintenance of RTI “folders” (either electronic or paper) that travel with each child as they progress from grade to grade, school to school.
8. Provide/organize staff development regarding data use and development, data collection, intervention and strategies.
9. Serve as a resource in assisting RTI teams to make data based decisions about a child’s progress.
11. Assist staff in use of data and progress monitoring tools such as AIMSWeb.
12. Provide guidance in identifying appropriate instructional strategies and interventions to improve student achievement for all students including English Language Learners, students enrolled in Special Education and students with diverse learning needs.
13. Monitor progress and performance of all Intervention Providers and provide/organize training when appropriate.
14. Meet regularly with district administration to review student learning data, implementation of RTI models and assess areas in need to further support or staff development.
15. Ability to meet and interact with employees and parents/guardians in routine situations, which require tact, discretion, and courtesy.

Additional Duties:
-  Assist guidance, pupil services staff, attendance staff,  or building administration, as needed.

Travel Requirements
-  Travel between schools, or between schools and central offices, may be required for certain positions.

-  Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications.
-  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and outside agencies.
-  Ability to report work orally or in writing to the supervisor(s) as required.
-  Ability to communicate effectively.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
-  Works in standard office and school building environments.
-  Ability to work outdoors during outdoor student activities.
