APTS’s Therapy Department Mission is to provide multi-modality therapeutic services which promote individual growth and holistic health. We understand that each student/client we work with is a unique individual influenced by his or her biochemistry, physiology, worldview, culture/s, given, assigned or chosen family, values and beliefs, and personal identity/ies. Therapy intervention first begins with clearly understanding and identifying the student/clients’ goals through data-based assessment and establishing an intervention plan based on those individualized goals.

Employee’s duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Assesses students’ communication skills (e.g. articulation, language, fluency, voice, etc.) for the purpose of determining their communication needs deficits and developing recommendations 

  • Consultation with teachers, parents, other personnel for the purpose of providing requested information, developing plans for services and/or making recommendations 

  • Implementation of individual, group and embedded speech and language intervention 

  • Prepares documentation (e.g. evaluations, observations, progress notes, IEP goals, contacts with parents, teachers and outside professionals, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support, developing recommendations, and/or conveying information 

  • Presents information on various topics related to area of professional expertise for the purpose of communicating information and gaining feedback on treatment issues 

  • Researches resources and methods (i.e. intervention and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, community resources, etc.) for the purpose of determining appropriate approach for students’ speech and language services 

Qualifications: 

  • Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Speech-Language Pathology 

  • Current license in speech pathology issued by the Virginia Board of Examiners for Audiology and Speech Pathology 

  • 1-year Speech Pathology experience

Job Type: Full-time 

Salary: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year

Schedule: 

  • 8 hour shift, flexible hours. 

  • Monday to Friday 

Work setting:

  • Therapeutic Private Day Setting
