At Global Intermediate Academy, teachers utilize a global focus to help students develop powerful problem-solving and critical thinking skills.  All staff work to develop collaborative relationships that support students, foster curiosity, build high learning expectations, and a climate/culture of respect and care.  GIA is working to become an International Baccalaureate (IB) school and is in year two of that transition.

Big Picture College and Career Academy is a Big Picture-inspired school with an early college focus. Students experience a college-preparatory environment balancing classes, workshops, independent learning, real-world learning through professional internships, and access to college courses. Students may apply to pursue an Associate’s Degree concurrent to their high school studies. Students and parents are active participants in the design and assessment of the student’s personalized project plan, which starts with the student’s own interests. Around these interests, the student’s advisor, internship mentor and parents create an individualized curriculum, internship learning goals, community-focused learning opportunities, and college readiness plan. By staying with the same advisor and a small advisory for at least two years, students help build a strong culture of high standards, accountability, and support. BPCCA students learn to become problem-solvers, lifelong learners and cooperative members of the community, preparing them for college and beyond.
