Teachers-Teachers.com, through a partnership with the Hawaii Department of Education (DOE), helps recruit potential teacher candidates to work in its public school system. Through this agreement, recruiters for Teachers-Teachers.com will work directly with applicants to ensure they meet the qualifications set forth by the DOE. Additionally, they will provide guidance with the application and licensure process and help to schedule interviews with the DOE.
PLEASE NOTE: Teachers-Teachers.com must follow the guidelines for candidate qualifications as outlined by our partnership with the Hawaii Department of Education. If you do not meet the criteria of at least ONE of these options, you will not be considered for interviews. In addition, student teaching must have been completed in a special education, math or science classroom, not a general education classroom.
To be considered for EMPLOYMENT as a special education, math, or science teacher in Hawaii, candidates must meet the criteria listed in one of the following options:
- Graduated with a four year teaching degree in special education, math, or science which included student teaching and hold or be eligible for state certification in special education, math, or science.
- Graduated with a four-year teaching degree or other degree related to education, hold an advanced degree in special education, math, or science which included student teaching and hold or be eligible for state special education, math, or science certification.
- Graduated with a four year teaching degree or other degree related to education, hold a current state endorsement in special education, math, or science and have three years of continuous special education, math, or science teaching experience in the state that issued the endorsement. The three years of teaching experience must be AFTER the endorsement was issued and have occurred within the last seven years.
In addition, all applicants must agree to acquire a Hawaii Standard Teaching License, which includes passing all the appropriate PRAXIS tests before being hired.
To apply for LICENSURE, applicants must submit the following materials:
- Application for Hawaii Standard Teaching License
- Hawaii Teachers Standards Board Form OS3009 (if applicable)
- Proof of completion of a State Approved Teacher Education Program (SATEP)
- Passing Praxis Scores for Hawaii (Only Praxis tests with the exact code, title, and cut score at or above Hawaii's passing score will be accepted)
- Praxis 1: Reading, Writing and Math
- Praxis 2: Principles of Learning & Teaching Subject Assessment

Upon submittal of the completed employment and licensure application packets, the DOE will then review and determine if an applicant fits a needed opening. Applicants approved for interviewing will be asked to meet in person with Hawaii DOE recruiters on the U.S. mainland or in Hawaii. Alternatively, a contact at the DOE may conduct a preliminary phone interview before forwarding your name and contact information to hiring school principals.
