What are the paid holidays and breaks?

Year-round schools typically have fall recess, and might have longer winter and spring recesses. The state of Hawaii has a modified year round calendar that includes a fall break in October. During winter, there is a three week break which includes Christmas and New Year's Day. During spring, there is a one week break.

Student Holidays (in addition to holidays that fall within recesses):
  • Admission Day (August)
  • Labor Day; Teacher Institute Day (October)
  • General Election Day (even years)
  • Veterans' Day
  • Thanksgiving Day and following day
