The license must be in one of the following types: Secondary Education (6-12) (Level 1), Secondary Education (6-12) (Level 2), Secondary Education (6-12) (Level 3), Secondary Education (6-12) (ARL).
The license position area must be in Trades and Industry.
The license must be in one of the following grades: 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th.
The license status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program.

Description

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The CTE Construction: Carpentry and Woods Teacher shall have the following responsibilities and duties:

The High School CTE Construction: Carpentry and Woods Teacher instructs the student in academic and technical content to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to enter an occupation. The CTE Construction: Carpentry and Woods teacher is responsible for the following items to further the educational mission of the school and in accordance with state law and Utah Board of Education policies and regulations. Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The CTE Construction: Carpentry and Woods Teacher shall have the following responsibilities and duties: Knowledge and Abilities: Classroom management principles Educational theory and teaching practices; Principles and methods for curriculum and training design; Teaching and instruction principles for individuals and groups; Education code, board rules, district policies, and operating procedures. Ability to Provide instruction in a (middle school, high school) classroom. Work cooperatively with students, parents, peers, administration, and community members; Establish and communicate clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects; Guide the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals; Employ a variety of instructional techniques and strategies aligned with instructional objectives, in order to meet the needs of all students; Participate as an active member with other faculty and staff; Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and LEA policy; Maintain and improve professional competence; Communicate effectively both written and orally; Establish & maintain a safe and respectful learning environment for all students Think and act quickly and calmly in emergencies; Prepare course materials, homework assignments, and handouts.

SPECIFIC COURSE ASSIGNMENTS would be a combination of the following: Carpentry 1 Woods 1 Construction Trades Foundation CTSO’s, i.e. Skills USA

Interpersonal Skills and/or Abilities Required): Must possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, & the public. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Duties may be occasionally performed on field trips away from school. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
